1. Overview

Keynity is a secure, local-first Android application designed to help users store passwords, payment card details, and private notes. This policy explains how Keynity handles information and what choices users have. The short version is that your vault data is primarily kept on your device, and we do not operate servers that store your sensitive vault contents.

2. Local-First Storage and Ownership

Keynity is built as a local-first app. Your passwords, payment card information, notes, and other vault content are stored locally on the device you use.
We do not own, host, or maintain any central server that stores your vault data as a service.
You remain in control of your data and can move it by exporting backups or transferring the app data yourself.

3. Security and Encryption

Keynity protects stored vault data with strong encryption using SQLCipher, a widely used database encryption layer.
Access to the app can be protected with biometric authentication such as fingerprint or face unlock, depending on the capabilities of your device.
Biometric data is handled through the device’s secure authentication system and is not stored by Keynity as a separate record.

4. Information We Collect

Keynity does not generally collect personal profile information from users. The main categories are below.

Personal information

We do not collect names, email addresses, or phone numbers as part of the normal app experience. If you contact us for support, you may choose to provide contact details voluntarily so we can respond.

Device permissions

Keynity may request camera access when you use the card-scanning feature to capture payment card details. That process is designed to work entirely on your device, and card images or OCR results are not uploaded to our servers.

Biometric permissions

Biometric permissions are used only to unlock the app or confirm access. These permissions are handled by the device operating system and are not used to create a separate database of your identity.

5. Third-Party Services

Google Play Billing

If you make a purchase, tip, or support contribution through the app, the transaction is handled by Google Play Billing. Google manages the payment process, and Keynity does not receive or store your credit card number or banking details.

Google Play Services

Google Play Services may provide standard platform functions such as crash reporting or diagnostics, depending on your device settings and app configuration. Any such data is governed by Google’s own policies and is not used to store your vault data.

6. Backup and Data Portability

You can export encrypted backups manually from the app and keep them under your own control.
Backups are designed to be portable so you can restore your data on another compatible device if needed.
Because the app is local-first, your data remains under your control rather than being maintained by a remote service.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Since the vault data is stored locally on your device, deleting the app, clearing the app’s storage, or resetting the device will remove the vault data stored by Keynity.
If you create an exported backup, that backup remains until you delete it yourself.
We do not keep a separate cloud archive of your vault contents.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights related to access, correction, deletion, portability, or objection to certain processing. In practice, because Keynity stores your data locally, the most direct control is to:

Review and delete data from your device within the app.
Export or remove backups you have created.
Remove the app or clear its data if you no longer want it stored on the device.

9. Children’s Privacy

Keynity is intended for general users and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
